You may be considering therapy if you have a particular issue you want to work through or you wish to learn more about yourself. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just not feeling yourself; you may be going through big life changes, lacking confidence or wanting to learn how to set boundaries. Therapy can help to develop meaningful strategies, self understanding and insight so you can move forward.
About me and my practice
I am a qualified and UKCP accredited relational integrative psychotherapist, and psychotherapeutic counsellor working with adults since 2016. I work relationally which means I believe that the relationship between therapist and client will be key to successful therapy (its also evidence-based). I believe in every client I work with and hold hope for each person until they are ready to hold it themselves. I see myself as a guide or a facilitator on your journey and I may offer some strategies or theories to support the work.
I have a particular interest in transgenerational and inherited trauma and supporting clients to set boundaries and find self belief.
My interest in counselling began back in 2006 working for what is now the Care Quality Commission where I completed some basic training in counselling skills. After moving on and spending 15 years working in the private sector with digital and creative agencies I chose to develop my passion for supporting others to live more fully and retrain as a psychotherapist. I trained at the Northern Guild Counselling & Psychotherapy and completed my MSc in Psychotherapy in conjunction with Newman University. As part of my training I have been on my own therapy journey over many years and so know what its can be like to be the client.
In addition to my private practice Ive worked as a tutor for students training to be therapists and worked as a counsellor within an NHS Occupational Health team offering short term 6 session therapy.
